So in lieu of trying to minimize my baggage I’ve begun to wonder if I could just use a pair of Clark’s Desert Boots (CDB) as my end-all-be-all. Of course I’d have some thin sandals for the showers, but would CDBs be sufficient as my only shoe? I mean, they go great with everything and can be dressed up and down.

I did do it in the past for two weeks and my feet felt like falling off, but I had only just started wearing them recently, so I am not sure if I should attribute it to the shoes not being broken-in or if they were just a bad pick.

I would be using them for up to 10 weeks in wintery conditions. Naturally, the soles are smooth, but mine are resoled with vibram bottoms similar to a hiking boot. Is the leather nature/construction of the shoe fine for snow/rain?

Anyone have experience with something similar, or the do’s and don’ts?
