I’ve been feeling like I really need to tell people about this stuff lately, having used it for probably about 8-10 months now. And /r/onebag is the perfect audience for it, since it’s so small and long lasting and effective. I am not affiliated with Lavilin in any way.

Lavilin makes this little white tub of white creamy deoderant. I buy mine at whole foods for approximately $1.4M/pot (okay I think it’s about $28) because I can’t find it anywhere else here in Vancouver, Canada; but you guys in the US should be able to find it cheaper.

It’s amazing. Amazing.

The first few times you put it on daily (preferably right after a shower), and after that you can apply less and less frequently for the same effect. I’m a shower-every-other-day person and I just apply a tiny amount after every shower, but I find now if I miss an application (four days) it lasts just fine. If I miss two applications I do tend to smell at some point, but if you apply this while you’re smelly it instantly resolves the problem. It’s actually a little freaky how well it works and I’ve been trying to read the label to figure out if I’ve inadvertently sold my soul or something.

I scoop and apply it with my finger, and don’t bother with the cute little sanitary stick it comes packaged with. When I’m done applying a half-pea sized amount to my pits, I wipe my fingers off on whatever other area of my body I think could potentially be sweaty. As an aside, I find it easier and better to apply to damp armpits, even though the instructions say to apply to dry skin.

Long story short: it’s expensive but really worth trying. It’ll last you way longer than a stick of regular deodorant, too (longer than several sticks, judging by how many my spouse goes through before I finish the tiny tub of Lavilin). And it’ll fit in your onebag, and need replacing less often.
