I purchased a Tom Bihn Synapse 25 last year and have grown to like the organization and quality of the bag. I to dislike that it is a top loader, and the laptop compartment is absolutely useless. While I use packing cubes, sometimes I find myself wanting just a liiiitle bit more space.

I think 32-35L would be ideal for me, but stumbled upon a number of blog reviews of the Osprey Farpoint 40. Initially I was turned off by the built in frame, but checked one out at REI and it’s not that bad at all. Seems comfortable and gives you a number of organizational options (albeit different than Tom Bihn). The 40L size does seem pretty huge from what I’m used to, but it’s not like I have to use the extra space so the bag could always be packed 2/3 full.

Anyway, curious as to thoughts on here about one bag vs the other.

Thanks! M
